Civil Process

By Georgia Statute (O.C.G.G.A. 15-16-10(a)(2)) the Sheriff is responsible for the security of the Lee County courthouse. Four Sheriff's employees are assigned to provide any security that is required. Security measures vary depending on which court is in session, what the Judge's needs are, and certain threat levels. Future plans, when funding is made available, is to increase levels of security to current standards.

The Civil Process service is responsible for serving orders, civil papers, and subpoenas, including FiFa's writ of possession and other judicial papers. All civil process is performed with close cooperation with the different courts and the Records department. Civil Process servers also provide transportation of prisoners to and from other jail facilities.
